On this day, I wore…

Hi amigxs!

I’ve been more focused on my lifestyle / fashion posts on Instagram lately, so I wanted to dedicate a few blog posts on some of the outfits I wore. Here in Los Angeles, Fall has been so confusing. It’s semi-cold, semi-still-ridiculously-hot. What I’ve been doing is pairing lighter pieces and basically holding a “just in case” jacket on the go. On this day, I met up with my friend to shoot and grab coffee. Right when we were about to enter the “Hi-Fi Espresso” coffee shop, I HAD to suppress my coffee cravings to have a quick photoshoot with this Camaro. The best part about finding this car is that it matched my outfit, which was entirely from Forever 21. The top was a white sheer body suit that had a lace detail embedded in it. The bottoms were a light-blue cropped paperbag pants, which I paired with a pair of wedges. And as usual, I kept my hair wavy and my makeup natural (I really need to mix it up with my makeup and hair).

To be honest with you, I’ve been wearing this outfit more than I should. I tend to do that, once I get obsessed with a look, I post it once but wear it on a weekly basis. Am I the only one who does that?

I hope you enjoy this upcoming series of daily outfits, thank you so much for reading!

Yellow Mellow

Hello Friends!!

So I was thinking about the amount of photos it takes to find THE perfect one for Instagram and how so many great photos are left neglected and alone on your photo gallery. But seriously, it takes about 100 photos to find the right one, and I know I’m not alone! I just want to post more of those neglected photos here, starting with these photos featuring my new favorite dress:

My good friend Rose from Instagram has started her own thrift-store finds shop, and she kindly gifted me this yellow, dainty floral dress. She picked this dress just for me and that is so special to me. I cannot thank her enough. I’ve been following her for a while now, and I continuously admire her style, drive, and passion.

Before I get into the way I styled this dress, you can find her on the links below:

@thriftingwithroseshop

Besides it being such a cute yellow floral dress, I definitely fell in love with the wrap detail in the front and the tie in the upper back, which makes a small portion of your lower back peek through. Seen in these photos above, I paired this dress with my white mules from Urban outfitters, faux leather round bag from Forever21, and earrings from Lilyful.

I wore natural makeup with my hair half-up and half down. I also styled and curled two pieces of hair to frame my face. To be honest with you guys, I was too lazy to curl the rest of my hair so I just left it natural. Can you tell?

Another way I would style this dress is with my hair completely straight, some small white sunglasses, with white Fila chunky sneakers. I’ll probably still keep my makeup natural. I really haven’t been in the mood to do my makeup lately… it’s too hot here in SoCal. (Wow I can always find ways to get off topic)

How would you wear this dress? Comment below!

For my next blog post, I’m thinking about writing some of my photoshoots / modeling experiences. What do you think?

My Favorite Apps for Instagram

Hello everyone!

I apologize for being so M.I.A here. I’ve been caught up with so many things in my life. I’ve been feeling really off lately. I’ve been questioning my future obsessively and compulsively. BUT that’s another story I’ll get into another day.

I thought it would be fun to take my mind off of everything to create a blog post of my favorite apps that I use for Instagram. NOW, I can also create another blog post of how I edit my photos using these apps, but I feel like it’ll be better explained through a video. What do you guys think?

First thing is first, I’m still a newbie when it comes to editing. I’ve made A LOT of editing mistakes, but I enjoy editing my photos just as much as I like taking them. Don’t get me wrong I understand it can get frustrating, but I hope these apps help you achieve the aesthetic you’re looking for.

Here are my favorite apps that I use for Instagram:

1. Facetune 2: Now I know what you’re thinking… really Facetune? Facetune has such a bad rep but if you use it lightly, you can make any picture look amazing. Just don’t over do it! I typically use Facetune with selfies -to patch up stubborn acne, sharpen makeup looks, and give detail to my eyes.

Here’s an example of a photo (taken with iPhone 8+) where I just used Facetune and nothing else:

2. Retouch: Now this app is a lifesaver! Have you ever taken a photo and thought man there’s a lot of random people on this shot…or man I wish that random piece of furniture wasn’t in this picture? RETOUCH LITERALLY MAKES THESE DISTRACTIONS DISAPPEAR so you can achieve the perfect picture! Here’s an example (photos taken with iPhone)

Before:

After:

Can’t tell the difference? Look at the floor, the first photo had a bunch of random rocks, then I used the “object removal” portion of the app to erase them, and the app replaces the rocks with the original background of the picture. The app is really easy to use but don’t expect miracles! Rule of thumb for this app: the smoother the background the more you can remove, the busier the background the harder it is to remove.

3. Lightroom: Now Lightroom can definitely be intimidating. There’s a desktop Lightroom version that has an annual fee, but I use the mobile app version which is way less intimidating but definitely more limiting. Almost all the photographers I work with use Lightroom, I used to use Lightroom all the time, but now I only use it if I want to create a drastic change to my photo.

For example (photos taken with Sony a5100)

Before:

After:

Side note: you can also purchase “presets” through Lightroom and use them in every photo to create a consistent theme throughout your Instagram (which is something I definitely need to work on).

4. UNUM: I only use this app to make sure my Instagram looks cohesive- in other words, to make sure it doesn’t look TOO random. BUT I definitely need to create a theme or make my Instagram more cohesive because as of now, it looks all over the place. But if you’re someone who’s goal right now is to create a theme, UNUM is for you. It helps you view your entire feed and it provides empty squares so you can manually add future posts and adjust them to your liking. There are definitely more features of this app that can help your Instagram- it shows your engagement, your following, and it has editing options. It’s an all-in-one app!

5. VSCO: I used to hate VSCO! It wasn’t until a good friend told me to try it again, and it’s all I’ve been using lately. It has sooo many filter options, and it has my new current obsession: the “grain” effect. Out of all of the editing options I show you, you NEED to use VSCO for all of your editing needs. Once you start using VSCO, you’ll start to realize that there are certain sets of filters you favor… and that’s ok! That is what will help you create a cohesive Instagram.

For me it’s the entire “L” collection (photos taken with Sony a5100):

Before:

After:

Tip: A huge rookie mistake is to use the filter to its fullest capacity! Bring the intensity down to 1-3- that way the only job of the filter is to enhance your photo and not make it unrecognizable.

6. Afterlight: Have you seen the latest trend of bloggers of Instagram where their photos have a slight “dust” effect on them? Well that’s where Afterlight comes in. I only use this app for the dust effect, BUT it also has some awesome light effects as well. Once again, you don’t want to use the dust effect to its highest capacity, you want to use this effect as slightly as possible to create a vintage aesthetic.

For example (used same photo as above):

7. HUJI: Another trend of bloggers of Instagram, HUJI. The awesome app that creates a 90’s vibe to any photo. It includes a date on the left-side corner of the photo which you can adjust to your liking. The cool thing about this app is that it does all the editing work for you, your only job is to find good lighting! I typically only use this app for my stories.

Here are a few examples (photos taken with iPhone):

8. Unfold: I only use Unfold for my stories! Yes it is kind of excessive to do extra work just for IG stories, but I want my following to be drawn in to what I’m doing and saying. This app will make any story look so interesting! It gives you many layout options to create a page or an entire story for your Instagram.

Here are some cheesy IG story examples:

Last but not least….

9. 8mm: Basically another extra way that I like to make my IG videos for my stories. This app is super cool! It makes any video you take look vintage. It gives you various “time eras” you can choose from to create that vintage effect.

Here’s a random example:

Once again, it is a lot of work just for IG stories. But my goal is to draw people in, I like putting in the extra work just so my following can see something out of the norm.

And that’s it guys! I hope you enjoyed this lengthy blog. If you want to see how I actually edit my photos / videos with these apps, comment down below and I will make sure to make a blog post or video for you guys. Which app do you see yourself using? What apps do you already use? I would love to know! I hope you enjoyed your weekend, and I will talk to you soon.

I’m going to make an effort to make at least one blog post per week! I promise!

SheIn: An Affordable Spring / Summer Wishlist

Happy Friday guys!

I’m so excited for the weekend!

I thought it would be fun to start a weekly wishlist! In this series, I’ll post items I’m going to buy, still looking into buying, and wish… maybe one day… be able to buy. What do you guys think?

For my first post of the series, I choose SheIn: a trendy brand that has high quality clothing with affordable prices. I know most of us, including myself, can’t always afford high-end clothing. That’s where SheIn comes in, every time I go to their website I manage to get various items without burning a hole in my pocket. I honestly have to stop myself before I actually do! Did I mention they ALWAYS have sales?! When I mean always I mean ALWAYS!

Beyond their amazing sales selection, I wanted to start with their “New Arrivals.”

Tops

For Spring / Summer, I’ve been really obsessed with stripes, mesh, and ruffles. Stripes for a causal everyday outfits, mesh for a hot night-out, and dainty ruffles for beach days.

Bottoms

For bottoms, I’ve been buying a lot of trousers and loose, wide-legged pants and shorts. I think because I live in Orange County, and it’s hot all the time, I no longer want to wear fitted clothing during the day! Loose, breathable bottoms are best!

Jumpsuits

JUMPSUITS! The easiest, everyday outfit for someone on the go. You can wear these jumpsuits for brunch and transition them for a night out!

Dainty Dresses

For Spring / Summer, the perfect dainty dress is a must! A dress that’s light, breathable, and always there for you when you don’t feel like wearing pants.

Matching Sets

I have a full blog post on my obsession with matching sets. It’s called “The Striped Set” if you want to go check it out. Matching Sets will save you this season!

Swimwear

Fun Fact: I’m almost 25 and I still can’t swim… but that doesn’t stop me from buying cute swimwear! Especially with these prices!

Last but not least…

Activewear

I’m a professional dancer, so I basically live in activewear. It’s important to me to find good quality and affordable activewear.

I had a lot of fun creating this blog post, I hope you guys liked it too! I would love to know your opinion on SheIn if you have purchased anything from them before. If you haven’t and are looking for cute, good quality clothes, you are able to shop or view their website through my blog! Just scroll all the way down and click on the brand name. Because I am an affiliate of the company, I do receive commission through every purchase made.

Now, I wrote this because I really believe they have one of the few brands with the best prices and clothes. And I’m excited to continue this series with more brands. If you have any brand or boutique suggestions, let me know on the comments below!

Have a great weekend!

Elizabeth Andrea

Circle-circle, dot-dot

GUYS!

I have not been on here in … well forever. I really don’t know how people write blogs, have amazing Instagram content, and create YouTube videos. But, one of my goals is to be able to do all of this full-time, and luckily I met a lot of amazing bloggers that have given me such great advice and motivated me to keep going. I’ll probably create some blog posts solely dedicated to my journey of going full time.

Anyway, can we talk about this blouse?!

To be honest, one of my best friends picked it out for me, and I’m forever grateful she did! Growing up, most of my closet consisted of polka dots. When I received this blouse in the mail, I definitely felt nostalgic and began reminiscing on my 8th grade wardrobe. This blouse is a classic twist on my past obsession. Beyond the polka dots, it’s unique features is what attracted me to this blouse the most. I don’t think I’ve seen anything like this. The ruffles gives this top a timeless feel, the ties / bows on the wrist creates a feminine vibe, and the off-the-shoulder and choker detail is an asymmetrical dream. I paired this blouse with dark-gray denim and strappy black heels. I loosely curled my hair and created a natural makeup look. For a night-out look, I would wear red lipstick, a bold wing, pin-up loose curls, and pair it with white trousers with closed-toe heels. How would you wear it?

I purchased this from Saltwater Sirens boutique.

I am ambassador for this company. You can use EV15 for 15% off your purchase! I got a size small, it’s definitely true to size but I sort of wish I got a size medium for an oversized look. You will DEFINITELY see me wearing this often, I mean who wouldn’t want to continue their 8th grade pattern obsession?!

I hope you guys are having a great week!

Side note: you can shop some of my favorite brands through my blog! Just scroll alllll the way down.

Liz

The Striped Set

Hello friends!

I hope you had an amazing weekend! A few weekends ago, I went to the Brea mall and I challenged myself to walk into a store that I’ve never been into before. My eyes usually steer towards the bigger clothing companies: such as, Forever 21, H&M, Urban Outfitters, etc. But I decided to casually walk into a boutique called OwlxFish, and I fell in love!

Like many clothing companies, OwlxFish had a variety of styles to choose from. I saw incredible basic, boho, and contemporary pieces. I had a lot of time that day, so I decided to try on everything I wanted to purchase (I usually pick the clothes I want and wish for the best). I wanted to purchase almost everything I tried on, but, of course, I wanted to be practical. Once I tried on “The Striped Set” I knew I had to have it for many reasons!

1. The Fit: I’ve tried on many sets that unfortunately you cannot mix sizes. My body is typically small for the top and medium for bottoms. Once I saw that this set was only a size small, I was slightly discouraged. But luckily it fit perfectly and comfortably. I tend to buy certain outfits that fit but are NOT comfortable. Does anyone else do that?

2. The Price: Have you ever wanted to buy a set and each piece is individually priced?! That’s my current dilemma with a set from Tiger Mist, I’m saving up for it, but MAN both pieces are expensive. Anyway, (sorry I always digress it’s my thing) I was sooo happy to see that this set had one price for both items! It came out to be approximately $35.00 which included a current sale the boutique was having. My brain automatically thought: “Ok, it’s $35.00 but it’s two pieces so TECHNICALLY I’m paying $17.50 for each piece which is not bad at all… ok I’ll take it’!”

3. The Versatility: If you’re ever doubting about buying a matching set, think about how many different outfits you can create with both pieces! I think this is the main reason as to why I purchased it. Let’s talk about the top: I can pair it with denim, cargo pant, bold solid-colored skirt, or floral print bottoms for a more colorful vibe. Let’s not forget the bottoms: I can pair it with a cropped sweater, dainty crop top, leather top, or a graphic tee. Honestly the possibilities are endless!

In the following photos, I threw on a pink leather jacket with the Striped Set:

Next, I paired the bottoms with the same leather jacket and a dainty floral top:

Overall, I was very excited when I bought this, because it was affordable, versatile, and well… cute! Do you have a favorite matching set? If so, where did you buy it and how have you worn it?

The Blogging Begins

Hello! So I’ve recently began blogging on Instagram and I truly love it! But I felt that I needed another platform to truly engage with my supporters. I created a poll asking if a written blog or Youtube would help, and I had a few people tell me to do both. So…

WHY NOT?!

Now I thought creating a blog would be easier, but it took me about 20 minutes to change my domain. So be patient with me. I don’t even want to know how long it’ll take me to start Youtube, but I’m always up for a challenge.

Here you will find fashion, beauty, and lifestyle posts. I hope you enjoy!

With love and support,

Elizabeth Villalobos
